Wotcha ladies! Happy Halloween! Lately, I've been into thriller novels and my husband recommended this to me. He's read more books than I have so I trust him and all his recos. He picked this book when we were in NBS a month ago but I have read it only last week. And since finishing this book, I've hunted four more and read them all.
I have not seen the movie where Tom Cruise portrayed Jack Reacher prior to reading the book and I initially planned to watch it this week. However, after reading this, I think I have changed my mind about watching the movie adaptation. Find out why.
Hi there Tom! Why so pogi?
This is the 9th Jack Reacher book but having no idea on what the first eight books was would impose no problem. And I commend Lee Child for that. *clap clap*
Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me. And sure enough, from the world he lives in--no phone, no address, no commitments-ex-military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. In Lee Child's astonishing new thriller, Reacher's arrival will change everything--about a case that isn't what it seems, about lives tangled in baffling ways, about a killer who missed one shot-and by doing so give Jack Reacher one shot at the truth....
Jack Reacher is an ex-military investigator. More specifically, he was a military cop and was a major when he left the army. His being assigned in Manila, Philippines was also mentioned several times in the books (I know about the other books because I've read four more after this!) which somehow enthralled me. Kahit paano, I am still proud of my country. =P
He stands at six foot five, weighs two hundred twenty pounds. He looks rough and tough. These made me doubt Tom Cruise's portrayal as Jack Reacher in the movie. Because physically, Jack Reacher is a giant and Tom is not. Pero baka naman nabigyan nya ng justice since he's been playing super agent roles in the past. Maybe I have to watch the movie then. Don't you think?
Now, did Jack Reacher find out if James Barr (the accused sniper who killed five people) was guilty? I'd spoil the ending a bit and say YES, he found out who the sniper was but it wasn't Barr? Who was it and how did Reacher found out? That you have to find out. ^-^
So far I have read five Jack Reacher books and this is my second most fave. I'll be sharing with you what my most favourite book is so stay stuned for that.
Care to share any of your latest read? Or maybe your favorite book?
Thanks for dropping by! Cheers!
