Maxi-Peel Fresh and Natural Skin Purifier Review

Wotcha ladies! How are you all doing? Now this post is long overdue as I have tried the product two months back (thanks SampleRoom!). But I felt the need to share my experience when I used Maxi-Peel Skin Purifier.

The tag said that it is NOT a cleanser, nor a toner, not even an astringent! It's a skin purifier.

Price: P79
How to Use: Start with a freshly washed face. Moisten a cotton ball and smooth liberally over face twice a day, in the morning and before bedtime. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen and moisturizer.

Ingredients List. Yes, it has AHA (Alpha Hydroxyl Acid).
Note: Emergence of embedded whiteheads, blackheads and pimples may be experienced as part of the purifying process. Use solely with moisturizer and sunblock.
So on my first day of using it, I did a patch test (at the skin behind my ears). I did not feel any stinging sensation nor see any redness. Hence, I got myself another cotton ball, moistened it with four droplets and applied it on my face. In less than sixty seconds, my face felt hot. I wasn't looking at the mirror as I was watching TV at the time. Which was a wrong move on my part.

Then out comes my mom from their room and shrieked upon seeing me! She said that my face was as red as a tomato! Upon checking my face, I was aghast because I looked like one ripe tomato ready to be chopped for salsa! I washed my face with cold water afterwards. (I dunno what or where I went wrong, why my skin reacted like that when my patch test was just a-ok)

But because I am that hard-headed, I again tried using it the following day thinking that the reaction I had was just normal for the first-time. Unfortunately though, I had red patches on my face and neck AGAIN, immediately after application. (See my scary photo below)

Mind you ladies, I am accustomed to strong astringents and chemical peels. I have tried Maxi-Peel in the past and my face was swollen for days, even with just one application. Probably, Maxi-Peel is just not for me. Have you tried this skin purifier? Care to share your experience?

Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!

  4. What a strong negative reaction! Yeah, no more Maxi-Peel next time. I am scared of strong astringents, because my skin is very sensitive.

  5. I am careful not to use harsh skin cleansers. My skin is sensitive so I limit myself to tried and tested products especially if for face application.

    1. We have a neighbor who's a fan of Maxi-Peel exfoliants, and her face is makinis but it's red. Lalo pag medyo exposed sa sun. Yun cousin ko naman, okay ang reaction sa Maxi-Peel. Hiyangan lang talaga.

  8. Oh no! Good thing you recovered quickly! I don't have sensitized skin but I stay away from Maxi-Peel because most of their products have a too strong formulation.

    1. I thought this one was milder than the exfoliant solutions pero di rin pala. I'll be sticking with my almost organic face products na lang talaga =)

  11. i guess it really is a matter of compatibility.. me too, sometimes i get that effect aftr using a skin product that is supposed to make my skin look better...

  12. Oh no it's too harsh for you. I hope your skin is better now? Try using a milder exfoliant like Paula's Choice. I use the brand's glycolic acid, okay siya considering my skin is so sensitive

Would you believe that this 135g bar only costs PhP 85? There's a smaller bar that's sold at PhP 55, too! I was amazed when I saw the price tag so I got one for myself and my mom.

I cut the bar in half - not only to avoid it from melting but to save it from my youngest brother. Hilig din nya gamitin …

BN Extreme Whitening Soap Review

In my search for whitening products that are affordable yet effective, I have come across BN Whitening Shoppe. BN stands for the owner's name, Bianca Naranjo who is from Davao City. I have read numerous reviews about their products (especially from Female Network where it has its own thread) and most revs was how effective their whitening soap is. Luckily I need not to order from Davao since they have already opened their branch in Farmer's Plaza Cubao! Even luckier because when I bought my first two soaps, they were on sale. I got 15% discount hence the price was down to Php 153 from the regular price of Php 180 per 220g bar.
